Alternatives

Resend alternatives for UK teams

Last updated . Competitor facts checked against their own sites as of October 2026.

Resend is a genuinely good product and the obvious default in this category. The reasons UK teams look elsewhere are usually specific: a reviewer asking where mail is sent from, wanting more product (or less), or wanting a different template model. These are the options worth weighing, ours among them, with what each is good at and where it falls short.

Written by YourMail, which is one of the options below — so read it as a starting point, not an audit. Listed alphabetically, not ranked. No prices for anyone but us: they change, and a stale competitor price on a page that benefits us is the most common way a list like this misleads, so each entry links to the vendor's own site instead. Every competitor claim links the page it was checked against.

The options

Amazon SES

AWS's own email sending service: an API and SMTP endpoint plus primitives — identities, configuration sets, event destinations — that you assemble into an email system. YourMail is built on it, so this is the option we are a consumer of rather than an alternative to.

Who it suits

Teams already running on AWS, with the IAM, SNS and infrastructure-as-code practice to wire up events, suppression handling and webhooks themselves.

Genuinely good at

  • Choice of region, including Europe (London), eu-west-2, alongside Ireland, Frankfurt, Paris, Stockholm, Milan and Zurich among others. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))
  • Receiving as well as sending in many of those regions, London included, so inbound mail can stay in the same region as outbound. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))

Trade-offs

  • New accounts start in a sandbox, per region: mail only to verified addresses, 200 messages per 24 hours, 1 per second, until a production-access request is approved (AWS says it gives an initial response within 96 hours).
  • Delivery events, webhooks to your app, suppression decisions and unsubscribe handling are yours to build.

Where it sends from

Whichever supported region you choose — London (eu-west-2) is one of them. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))

Mailgun

An email API and SMTP service for sending, receiving and tracking email, with inbound message parsing, an email validation API and deliverability tooling alongside it.

Who it suits

Teams that want an established email API with an EU region and inbound parsing in the same product.

Genuinely good at

  • A separate EU region, chosen per sending domain from one account and reached at its own base URL (api.eu.mailgun.net). (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))
  • Inbound parsing, email validation and deliverability tools in the same product as sending. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))

Trade-offs

  • Its regions are the US and the EU; it does not describe a UK region. After Brexit an EU region does not by itself answer a UK residency question.
  • Some account data — account information, billing details, API keys and domain names — is replicated globally rather than held in your chosen region, by Mailgun's own description.

Where it sends from

US or EU, chosen per domain. Mailgun says message data — messages, event logs, suppressions and more — never leaves the region that processes it. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))

Postmark

A transactional-first email service, with a separate broadcast product alongside it. The product closest to YourMail in scope.

Who it suits

Teams that want a transactional specialist with a long track record and a hosted template system, and have no requirement for sending from the UK or EU.

Genuinely good at

  • Transactional and broadcast mail run on parallel but separate sending infrastructure, with dedicated IP pools for each, so the two never mix. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))
  • Templates and layouts edited in Postmark, with pre-built templates for common transactional emails. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))

Trade-offs

  • Hosted in the US, with no stated plan for EU servers — a real question if a reviewer wants a UK or EU answer.

Where it sends from

The United States: Postmark says its primary data and servers are at Deft's data centre outside Chicago and on AWS, and that it has no current plans to add servers in the EU. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))

SendGrid

Twilio's email platform: an email API and SMTP service plus marketing campaigns, at the scale of a large established vendor.

Who it suits

Teams that want transactional and marketing mail from one large vendor, need dedicated IPs, or have a non-developer editing campaigns.

Genuinely good at

  • An EU data residency option: an EU-designated subuser with an EU dedicated IP, sending through api.eu.sendgrid.com. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))
  • Breadth: the email API, SMTP and marketing campaigns under one vendor. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))

Trade-offs

  • EU residency needs a higher-tier package with dedicated IPs, a new EU-designated subuser, and loses Marketing, Activity, Validation and Geostats for that subuser.
  • Much more product than a transactional send needs, and an EU region rather than a UK one.

Where it sends from

Without EU data residency, sends use the global endpoint and data can leave the EU; with it set up, data is stored in the EU and processed there “whenever possible”, with stated exceptions such as support access. (as of October 2026, source (opens in a new tab))

YourMail

A transactional email API built on Amazon SES in London, operated by a UK company. One send call, delivery events, signed webhooks, and suppression enforced automatically. This is our product, so weigh this entry accordingly.

Who it suits

UK teams whose customers or reviewers ask where mail is sent from and expect a specific, checkable answer — and who want transactional sending only.

Genuinely good at

  • Sending from London (eu-west-2), visible in the headers of every message you receive, with the residency position — including what is NOT in the UK — written down on the site. (details)
  • Hard bounces and complaints suppressed automatically, and RFC 8058 one-click unsubscribe on mail marked bulk without ever blocking a password reset. (details)

Trade-offs

  • New. The track record is short, and a short record is a short record.
  • Transactional only: no broadcasts, audiences, campaign builder or hosted template editor, and none is planned.
  • Support is the founder by email — fast in practice, and a single point of failure by definition.
  • A new account's daily limit ramps up over its first week of live sending.

Where it sends from

Sending is in the UK — London (eu-west-2), on AWS SES. Stored data (message records, bodies, attachments and events) is held by our database provider, Convex, in the United States. (details)

How to choose

If you are happy with Resend, stay

Resend is a good product. Moving providers costs a migration, a suppression-list export and a new sending reputation, so the reason to leave should be specific — a residency question, a product-scope question, or a support question — not a vague sense that something else might be better.

If the question is where mail is sent from

Resend sends from four regions — North Virginia, Ireland, São Paulo and Tokyo — and keeps account data in the US whichever you pick. If a reviewer wants an EU answer, Mailgun's EU region and SendGrid's EU data residency are both documented; if they want a UK answer, Amazon SES in eu-west-2 or something built on it, such as YourMail, is where to look.

If the question is product scope

Want marketing campaigns and transactional sending from one vendor: SendGrid. Want transactional with a hosted template editor and a long record: Postmark. Want to own every piece: Amazon SES directly. Want transactional only, with templates as React components in your own codebase: YourMail or staying on Resend.

If the question is maturity

Every option here except YourMail has years more production use behind it. If you want the well-trodden choice, that is a rational reason to rule us out, and we would rather you did that here than after a migration.

If the UK question is the deciding one, read why an EU region is not automatically a UK answer before weighing the list above on region alone.

Common questions

Does Resend have a UK sending region?

As of October 2026 Resend's own regions page lists four sending regions — North Virginia (us-east-1), Ireland (eu-west-1), São Paulo (sa-east-1) and Tokyo (ap-northeast-1) — and none in the UK. It also says account data, including metadata, logs and API records, is stored in the United States whichever sending region you choose. Check their page for the current list.

Is an EU region good enough for a UK data residency requirement?

It depends on what the requirement says. Since Brexit the UK and the EU are separate data protection jurisdictions. If the requirement is about lawful transfer, an EU region is usually not the problem; if it literally says data must stay in the United Kingdom, an EU region does not meet it. Our UK vs EU residency page goes through the difference.

Why are there no prices on this page?

Because competitor prices change and a stale one on a page written by a competitor is the most common way a list like this misleads. Each entry links to the vendor's own site. YourMail's price is shown because it comes from the same source as our pricing page and cannot drift from it.

Can I keep using React Email if I move away from Resend?

React Email is an open-source library, so it is not tied to sending through Resend. YourMail accepts a React element in place of html via the optional @react-email/render peer dependency; with the other options you render it to HTML yourself before sending.

What should I move first when switching providers?

Your suppression list. Export the addresses your current provider has suppressed for bounces and complaints and import them before your first send — starting with an empty list means re-mailing every address that has already bounced or complained, which is the fastest way to damage a new sending reputation.
