Comparison

YourMail vs Resend

Last updated

Resend is a genuinely good product and the obvious reference point for anything in this category, including this one. The real difference is narrower than a comparison page usually admits: where the mail is sent from, what is written down about the data, and how much product you want beyond sending.

They publish the current list themselves; if where the send originates matters to your review, check it against their documentation rather than our summary of it.
Compliance surfaceArticle 28 processor terms published in full and in draft pending legal review — readable now, not yet executable. Alongside them, and already running: a named sub-processor list with 30 days' notice before it changes, self-serve export and deletion, and a per-account retention window of 30, 90 or 365 days after which bodies and attachments are stripped while the delivery record survives.A DPA and the usual vendor compliance surface. Established company, longer track record, more procurement teams have already been through it than have been through ours.
What is claimed about data residencySending is in the UK — London (eu-west-2), on AWS SES: it is the region the code configures and it is visible in the headers of mail you receive, so it is checkable rather than asserted. Storage residency at rest is not claimed, because we do not have it in writing from our database provider. Stated on the page rather than left for a reviewer to discover.Read their own documentation for the current position rather than taking our summary of it.
React email templatesSupported — pass a React element instead of HTML, via the optional @react-email/render peer dependency. They maintain react-email itself. It is their library, the integration is first-party, and it is excellent.
MaturityNew. Live with real customers and real mail, and honest that it is early.Years of production use, a large user base, and an ecosystem of integrations and starters that assume it.
Managed unsubscribeRFC 8058 one-click List-Unsubscribe injected and enforced on sends marked bulk, with the suppression scoped so an unsubscribe blocks bulk mail and never blocks a password reset.Broadcast and audience features with unsubscribe handling; a different shape aimed at a wider product.
Product scopeTransactional sending only. No campaigns, no audiences, no marketing product.Transactional plus broadcasts and audience management — more product, if you want more product.

Where Resend is the better choice

Written by us, about a competitor, on our own site — so treat it as a starting point and not an audit. It is here because a comparison with nothing in this section is not a comparison.

React Email

They wrote it. If your templates are react-email components, you are using their library either way, and the first-party path will always be better supported than a compatible one. We support it; we do not maintain it.

Maturity, and everything that follows from it

More production years, more people who have hit the edge cases before you, more Stack Overflow answers, more starters and boilerplates with it already wired in. For a team that wants the boring choice, that is a real and rational reason to pick them over us.

Breadth

If you want broadcasts, audiences and marketing sends alongside transactional mail, they have a product for that and we deliberately do not. Running two vendors to avoid one is rarely the right call.

When the UK angle actually matters

Most of the time it does not, and pretending otherwise would waste your afternoon. It matters when a customer's procurement or security review asks where mail is sent from and expects a specific answer, or when you are selling into UK public sector, healthcare or financial services and a reviewer wants to see it written down rather than inferred.

If that is your situation, the UK sending page sets out what is claimed and — more usefully for a reviewer — what is not. If it is not your situation, weigh the rest of this page on its merits and expect them to be close.

Common questions

Is YourMail a drop-in replacement for Resend?

Close, but not identical. The send call takes the same shape — from, to, subject, html — and both accept a React element as the body, so a small integration usually moves in an afternoon. What does not move is anything built on Resend's broadcasts, audiences or contact management, because YourMail has no marketing product at all and is not planning one. One thing to plan for: a new account's daily limit ramps up over its first week of live sending — so cut over ahead of a launch, not on the morning of it.

Does Resend send from the UK?

Resend offers multi-region sending including an EU region; check their own documentation for the current list rather than our summary of it. The distinction worth knowing is that after Brexit the UK and the EU are separate jurisdictions, so an EU region is not automatically the answer to a UK residency question. YourMail sends from London (eu-west-2) on AWS SES — the region the code configures, and the region visible in the headers of mail you receive.

Can I use React Email templates with YourMail?

Yes. Pass a React element in place of html, via the optional @react-email/render peer dependency. react-email is Resend's own library, so their integration is first-party and ours is compatible with it rather than maintained by us — if your templates are react-email components, that is a real point in their favour.

What does Resend do that YourMail does not?

Broadcasts, audiences and contact management, plus years more production use behind every edge case you are likely to hit. If you want a marketing product alongside transactional sending, or you simply want the well-trodden choice, Resend is the stronger pick and the section above says so in more detail.
